The Environment of Mangrove
Templature
Amami Oshima’s central region, surrounded by mountains, is home to mangroves. This area receives higher rainfall and has higher humidity compared to other regions.

Tide
Because mangroves are close to the sea, they are affected by the tides. On days with low tide, we go down the main river by kayak and then walk to explore the mangroves. On days with high tide, we paddle a kayak into the small waterways inside the mangrove forest.
